The story of Desert Lotus is not just a business history; it is a narrative of compassion and cultural pride. It began with Chef Bua, a Thai national who moved from the United States to the UAE to support her husband. In 2015, a catastrophic earthquake struck Nepal, leaving thousands in dire need.
Chef Bua, driven by a desire to help, made a bold decision. She told her husband, “I will cook Thai food to raise money.” Working from her home kitchen, she prepared authentic Thai dishes for friends and the community. She pledged that 100% of the proceeds would go to the earthquake victims. The response was unprecedented.
People weren’t just buying food; they were supporting a mission of kindness. This act of
giving became the spiritual foundation of our company.

Standing With Nepal
When the devastating earthquake struck Nepal in 2015, Chef Bua believed that compassion should be met with action. Rather than standing by, she turned her kitchen into a place of hope, dedicating the week’s proceeds from Bua’s Kitchen to support emergency relief efforts for those affected by the disaster.
Beyond financial contributions, Chef Bua actively participated in charitable initiatives, helping provide food, essential supplies, and practical assistance to communities facing unimaginable loss. Her commitment reflected a simple belief: when people are hurting, we all have a responsibility to help.
